A head start for your art in 2016
New Company Purple and Grey announce events for 2016
Purple and Grey is a new company set up by two artists, with the aim to help new and emerging artists and makers with their professional development. They have arranged ticketed talks, seminars and free networking events throughout the year and artists / makers can choose from an array of professional speakers who have knowledge to pass on. Subjects include getting print ready, writing press releases, approaching galleries, open studios, social media and setting up a website.
‘There is no substitute for learning from those that have been there and done that. The advantages are that you can avoid costly mistakes and get a head start!’ Ruth Gray
Purple and Grey take it as a given that artists/makers have the talent and realise that talent is not even half the battle it is the hard task of learning to present, sell and promote yourself in the best way possible to attract the clients and gallery owners. It is this part that Purple and Grey are focusing on and as well as their networking, talks and seminars they offer tailored one to one sessions that can be used to assess what would benefit the individual and refer them on to their wide network of experts or just listen because sometimes all that is needed is an impartial ear.
‘Thank you for Thursday! I left feeling very positive about developing my Art career. I have decided that networking is much more important than I imagined it would be. Creative people new to the business can feel that it is a bit of a closed shop. I realised on Thursday that it is not and all you need is persistence, positive thinking and support. ‘ John Shiels Attendee at Purple and Grey Free Networking Event.
